Miguel Carballo
Biography & Awards
Miguel Carballo, pianist and software developer born in Cochabamba (Bolivia). He has worked as a piano teacher, accompanist pianist, technological research assistant, and programmer at different institutions in Cochabamba, Arkansas and Indiana (USA). He studied piano at the “Man Césped” National Academy of Music, Computer Systems Engineering at the “Universidad Privada Boliviana” and finished his master’s degrees in Piano Performance and Computer Science at the University of Central Arkansas.
To date, he has performed in more than 300 concerts, recitals, and festivals as a soloist, chamber musician, and accompanying pianist in Bolivia, Chile, Spain, and the United States, obtaining various awards during his career.
As a computer scientist, Mr. Carballo has been part of the group awarded with the Plurinational Science and Technology Prize in Bolivia in the categories of Industrial Transformation and Information and Communication Technologies (2015 and 2016) during his time working in the New Information Technologies Research Center “CINTI”(Bolivia).
Currently, Mr. Carballo is piano instructor at Jacobs Academy Virtual Academy (a program of IU-Jacobs School of Music) and is pursuing the Doctoral Degree in Music Technology at Indiana University. His studies involve music software development, sound editing, and AI music generation.
